Excellent Chris In the beginning, I found so confusing that Brasilian players teach carreteio 3x1, when actually, in their samba school, they play 2x1! Then, I understood is a combination of techniques between carreteio and the bossas ou floreios. I learned the 3x1, but when I went to Rio, found tough to play on the speed and without getting tired. Simple saying, my carreteio 3x1 become shorter, while the 2x1 become relaxed and longer I even saw players doing 1x1 so relaxed My wish is Chris, if you can play some of the most common bossas e floreios Thanks you for your excellent explanation

Yes, please give us a video about repique mor. You got to know a lot about it because of playing in Tijuca. Its very difficult to get the information about the history of the repique mor, about the origins of the levada and to understand the differences between the Tijuca and the Beija flor levada. All because i dont understand portuguese. Vitinho says, the levada is a mixture between the tan-tan pattern and something came from Ile Aiye, but i haven't find anything sounding "talaka" in Ile Aiye. Also a big challenge for me is to walk while playing the repique mor - the instrument swing around and i only try not to hurt my left arm.

Great video again Chris! Clear explanation and good examples. I usually play repique with a conical stick, holding the thicker end in my hand. I remember being told by several people in Rio to hold it at the thinner end, but I find that this gives too much weight/balance of the stick away from my hand. Like you said, it's quite a personal thing

Thanks Chris for this excellent reference material which is always good to return to when in doubt. I've always been struggling with the tamborim. I did see the 2+2 coming at 29:55. It seems to me as when your arm goes forward there is also a slight twist to it.
